Young people from North Devon had the chance to meet with a range of local groups at a Social Fair on Thursday 14 March where they could find out about opportunities in the area to meet new people and learn new skills.
Organiser Anna Lane said: "We know that some young people find social situations tricky so we hope that the event has given them a helping hand in developing those kind of skills and networks."
"Local organisations have been very supportive of what we were trying to do here. There were opportunities on offer for young people with interests in gaming, art and drawing, theatre, athletics, walking, volunteering, wildlife and the environment."
The event was organised with the help of Empowering Enterprise participants who contributed to planning the venue set up and keeping visitors and stallholders well-supplied with tea and coffees. The event was held at Georgie's Youth Centre in Barnstaple where regular attendees were also able to meet stallholders and find out about opportunities to get involved with social groups around the area.
Empowering Enterprise hopes to evaluate the impact of the event with visitors and stallholders and potentially hold further Social Fairs in other parts of Devon.
